Cllr Jane Carter is the Deputy Leader of Â鶹ÊÓƵ. She stood as Labour candidate for the Whitburn and Marsden Ward in May 2022. Cllr Carter was appointed Deputy Leader of the Council in May 2024 and has Lead Member responsibility for Governance, Finance and Corporate Services. Prior to taking up this position Cllr Carter served as a Cabinet Member for Education and Skills. Cllr Carter is a Cabinet member for the North East Mayoral Combined Authority. She is also a Member of the Board of Directors for Whitburn Church of England Academy. Cllr Carter has over 35 experience working for a Trade Union and finished her career as a National Officer for Unison, representing senior managers in the NHS.
Ward surgeries will recommence from 5th September and will take place on the 1st and 4th Thursday of the month, 3:30pm-4:30pm, at Whitburn Library
